I had the honor and privilege of coordinating my dear friend Heather’s wedding this past summer. Heather and Wes planned their wedding in this quaint town in Oregon called Yachats, if you have never been there put it on your list! It is a tiny little town right on the coast with beautiful views of the ocean. I was so excited to see it in person as Heather had always talked about how her family vacationed there every year growing up. Wes is studying to become a Doctor, had been accepted at Boston University School of Medicine, and was expected for his white coat ceremony the week after the wedding so Heather and Wes packed everything up in Seattle the week before the wedding and planned to leave for a cross country road trip/honeymoon after their wedding.
July 23rd, 2016 was a gorgeous day in Yachats, the sun was out shining in all its radiance and the cool breeze coming off the ocean was so refreshing. The wedding party started out with getting ready at the Adobe Resort and Hotel which is also where their reception was taking place. There was so much excitement and anticipation in both the ladies room and the guys room, Heather and Wes had planned not to see each other until she walked down the aisle. I loved the details of Heather’s wedding dress, she truly looked like a Disney Princess! The talented Lahna Graham was the photographer of the day and as you can see she snapped some pretty special moments.
The ceremony took place at The Yachats Community Presbyterian Church down the street from the Adobe Resort. This old fashioned charming little church was the perfect backdrop for their wedding ceremony, Heather’s bridesmaids wore different colored dresses in blue/green colors and the groomsmen wore grey suites. They also incorporated a sand pouring into the ceremony which I thought was so fitting with having their wedding by the beach.
Following the ceremony the guests headed to the Adobe Resort for cocktail hour while the wedding party finished up pictures on the beach. Heather climbed down a cliff in her wedding dress to get some picturesque photos right on the beach with the waves crashing behind. It was definitely worth it!
The reception was full of food, laughter, dancing, and happy tears! Heather has always been a big fan of swing dancing and it was so fun to see everyone up there dancing their hearts out. The toasts were touching and heartfelt, especially since everyone knew this would be their last full day together with Heather and Wes before they set out on their adventure to Boston.
They finished the evening out with bonfires and s’mores on the beach with all of their close friends and family. What a perfect way to end such an incredible and memorable day! Thank you Wes and Heather for having me be a part of your wedding day, I loved every minute! – Hannah
